White Snake 2: Green Snake Bangla Subtitle 2021
I really wanted to like White Snake 2: Green Snake Bangla Subtitle this movie. I cannot emphasize enough how much I wanted to like it. I loved the movie that came before it, and quite frankly, the story of Bai Suzhen is a very charming folk tale. Green Snake… has virtually nothing to do with ANY of that.
White Snake 2: Green Snake Bangla Subtitle It starts with what could be considered a moment from the story of Bai Suzhen, the moment where the jealous Terrapin imprisons the White Snake underneath the Pagoda, but there is no build-up to it. There is no explanation of how we got there, and it seems like the Terrapin was replaced with the chief monk who presides over the temple where Xu Xian is also a monk. Blanca and Verta are trying to destroy that temple for some reason. Presumably the monk shot first so-to-speak, but there is no explanation. Blanca gets imprisoned, but hands off her child to Verta so she can give him to his father, who’s begging his superior to spare his wife, but this is in vain, and after this, the monk kills Verta and she ends up in a place called Asuraville—a place that is eventually explained to be “created by the potent resentment brimming from all of humanity’s unmet luck.”
The primary antagonists are the embarrassingly-named Ox-Heads and Horse-Faces. A… biker gang… I guess, who turn out not to be a bunch of Gozuki and Mezuki incarnations and are just a bunch of guys who like transforming into monsters because strength is everything. Or something. It wasn’t all that coherent. They transform by wearing skin masks and choosing what kind of face they want and then their bodies change to match that face. So if you choose the head of a bull, well, I’m sure you get the picture. Why bulls and horses, though, I have no idea.
White Snake 2: Green Snake Bangla Subtitle The visuals are fantastic, better than the previous film, in fact, but much of it goes to waste because many of these visuals don’t stay in the same place for more than a split-second. I couldn’t really appreciate that some of the evil spirits were characters we’d seen get killed earlier in the movie when the only reason I even figured that out was because I had to go to the washroom and paused at exactly the right second to see it clearly, and I… kind of didn’t feel like watching the whole movie in slo-mo.
tl;dr: Most of the movie is a string of over-the-top action sequences with the minimum amount of narrative necessary to glue them together without it being the cinematic equivalent of a Jackson Pollock painting, and it has about as much to do with The Legend of the White Snake as it does with almost anything else.
I really wanted this movie to be good. But it just doesn’t match the quality of the previous movie.
I’ll start off to say I really did enjoy this movie! Yes, the plot is VERY different to the first – but this isn’t about the White Snake anymore, now we get to see her ‘sister’ and her story – which yes, is a VERY different experience.
I’ll say that while I loved watching the first part where the two go to destroy the pagoda – plot-wise it was very confusing unless you already have a good outside knowledge of the legends. But it is really a beautiful sequence.
The quality of the animation is stunning!! A huge step from the last movie.
The only issue I have with the plot is that for me, it felt like nobody changed. Verta grew into more of an actual personality in comparison from how she was in the last movie – but nothing was learnt! Not all movies need morals or a learned lesson, but I feel like none of the characters learnt or grew in ways that mattered. Verta at the end of the movie still feels the same as she was at the start – her motives and ‘obsessions’ never changed. It just felt that in the end, the plot never really went anywhere in that regard. There are a few other small plot holes or things never really explored that would have been cool to otherwise have explained, but to me they are very minor.
White Snake 2: Green Snake Bangla Subtitle Now I’ll get into SPOILERS so please stop reading if you really want to go into this movie blind – I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND to give it a watch despite my subjective ideas about the plot. However, if you don’t care about that or if you’ve already seen it then proceed.
One issue I have with an essential part of the movie is with the mystery guy – I was really hoping once it was revealed he looked like Blanca, that it was her SON. At the beginning of the movie we saw her child after all!! Not sure how he would have survived so long to modern times, but it’s not the most far fetched thing in this movie. It turns out he IS Blanca – and that Verta was right all along. And it felt that we were back to square one – that Blanca is the only thing in Verta’s life and that Verta REFUSES to let anyone else in.
I just feel like it would have been really cool to see an interaction between Verta and the half-breed child her ‘sister’ had. That would have opened up sooo many cool possibilities! Like she thought it’s Blanca, but then they find out that he’s Blanca’s SON!! Throw them both for a loop! He would never know his mother, and the last person he saw before he was taken was Verta – he was only a baby so that could be why the face in the water was clouded!

প্লট নিয়ে আমার একমাত্র সমস্যা হল আমার জন্য, মনে হয়েছিল কেউ পরিবর্তন হয়নি৷ ভার্টা শেষ মুভিতে যেভাবে ছিলেন তার তুলনায় তিনি একজন প্রকৃত ব্যক্তিত্বে পরিণত হয়েছেন – কিন্তু কিছুই শেখা হয়নি! সমস্ত সিনেমার নৈতিকতা বা শেখার পাঠের প্রয়োজন হয় না, তবে আমি মনে করি যে কোনও চরিত্রই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এমনভাবে শিখেনি বা বেড়ে ওঠেনি। মুভির শেষে ভার্টা এখনও সেরকমই অনুভব করে যেমনটি সে শুরুতে ছিল – তার উদ্দেশ্য এবং ‘আবেগ’ কখনই পরিবর্তিত হয়নি। এটা শুধু মনে হয়েছিল যে শেষ পর্যন্ত, প্লটটি সত্যিই সেই বিষয়ে কোথাও যায় নি। আরও কয়েকটি ছোট ছোট প্লট হোল বা জিনিসগুলি সত্যিই কখনও অন্বেষণ করা হয়নি যেগুলি অন্যথায় ব্যাখ্যা করা দুর্দান্ত হত, তবে আমার কাছে সেগুলি খুব ছোট।

আমার মনে হচ্ছে ভার্টা এবং তার ‘বোন’ যে অর্ধ-বংশের শিশুটির মধ্যে মিথস্ক্রিয়া দেখতে পাওয়া সত্যিই দারুণ হতো। যে এত সুন্দর সম্ভাবনার উন্মোচন হবে! যেমন সে ভেবেছিল এটা ব্লাঙ্কা, কিন্তু তারপর তারা জানতে পারে যে সে ব্লাঙ্কার ছেলে!! একটি লুপ জন্য তাদের উভয় নিক্ষেপ! তিনি কখনই তার মাকে চিনতে পারবেন না, এবং তাকে নেওয়ার আগে তিনি শেষ যে ব্যক্তিটিকে দেখেছিলেন তিনি ছিলেন ভার্টা – সে ছিল কেবল একটি শিশু তাই জলে মুখ মেঘে ঢাকা ছিল!
